Meeting minimum standards - Renters’ responsibilities.
What are the renter’s responsibilities?
Renters have the right to ensure that the property they are considering for rental meets the minimum standards before signing a rental agreement. In case the property fails to meet these standards, renters have the option to request that the rental provider makes necessary repairs or changes prior to signing the agreement or moving in.
Renters’ rights if the property does not meet minimum standards.
If a rental agreement has already been signed but the renter has not yet moved in and the property does not meet minimum standards, renters can choose to end the agreement immediately without any additional fees by notifying the rental provider about the issue. Alternatively, they can move in but make an urgent request for repairs to be done.
If the property falls below minimum standards at any point during the rental agreement, renters have the right to request urgent repairs to bring the property up to the standards.
