Family Violence - If VCAT changes or ends your agreement.

Once VCAT gets involved and makes changes or ends your agreement.

If VCAT determines that your current rental agreement should come to an end or that a new one should begin that excludes the violent offender, the rental provider may:

request an updated condition report

After providing you the appropriate notice, arrange a home inspection.

The excluded party is permitted to send a representative to any inspections that the rental provider arranges.

If someone is excluded from the property.

A family violence safety notice, a family violence intervention order, or a personal safety intervention order can all require the person who has been violent to leave your rental home.

If you change the locks, the rental provider cannot give them a key and they must not enter the property.

Yet, they do have some rights, such as

  • arranging for a representative to attend a property inspection

  • requesting to terminate the rental agreement early with VCAT.
